The whole point of this rhea egg was to
represent an eagle in flight with the sun
behind him, using the fewest number of
pierced cuts as possible. My parakeet and two
cockatiels contributed the feathers for this
photo and no, I didn't wrench them from their
bodies. Although when they are screeching
early in the morning, it's tempting. I found a
special piece of root, carved a concave
receptacle into which the egg would fit and
then polished it. The root adds a warm touch
of Nature that my typical brass stands would
not, of course. I should add that, like many of
my animal carvings, this eagle has a flatback
Austrian crystal as his eye.
Price: $169.00 USD plus shipping and
insurance. Custom root stand, glass dome
and walnut base included.
