A few years ago, when I was taking the first
steps of a journey into a special type of
meditation, I wanted an object so calm, so
balanced and so peaceful, that I could use it
as a "crutch" to begin learning to will my
mind to be blank. (Yes, I'm sure some of you
would say I didn't have far to go.) I carved
this rhea for that purpose and it worked
marvelously. You could stare at it for
moments and then get lost travelling around
its sweeping curves. In fact, the wife of good
friend of mine bought it for him during a
very stressful period of his life.
