Once I found rhea eggs I was in love.
Although much thinner than ostrich eggs,
rhea eggs are ovoid and - thus - look more
like the real eggs that they are. In general,
I like to push the envelope and do things
other carvers can't, won't or don't have the
patience for, such as relief carving on
rhea. With "Lotus" I decided to push the
envelope and see how much shell I could
remove and I used a pattern I used to
doodle while in college classes. Then,
around the vertical girth of the entire egg I
added a simple strip of Celtic knotwork,
another favorite theme of mine to carve.
See the Celtic band from the side here.
Price: $1,599.00 USD plus shipping
