Queen Elizabeth II is one of Britain's
longest-reigning monarchs and she embodies the
pomp and circumstance so unfamiliar to most
Americans. As a young boy in New Zealand, a
part of the United Kingdom which she visited in
1953, I was mesmerized by the aura of English
Royalty. Her coronation embodied traditions
practiced in Britain for over 1,000 years, while
America was but a youngster at 176 years of age.
I cannot, to this day, see Queen Elizabeth without
a bit of warmth in my heart along with regret
that when she is gone, a very long era steeped in
