Sunrise is, to me, just what it seems to be...
the rising of the sun in a very complex
pattern of interlaced sunbeams. All are
arranged in spirals, as are the flowers and
leaves they nourish, to idicate that it is not
an immediate occurrence, but a slow
process. Unfortunately, when I first did
this piece, I received quite a bit of angry
feedback from people who went through
World War II... I can understand that this
egg might elicit negative feelings regarding
the flag of the land of the rising sun, and
even though it was not my intent, the
object of art is to get the viewer to feel, so I
guess it did exactly that. Either way, it's a
very complex piece and takes weeks to do.
