The day I designed this egg, I felt
somehow that the earth had gone out of
kilter... that the angle of its axis was no
longer tipped at 23.5 degrees from the
vertical. One minute I'd feel good and
could make functional decisions. In an
instant I'd feel out of sorts and lost, then
things would steady. Towards late
afternoon, things had stabilized, but I
wanted to try to represent how I'd felt
earlier. Contrastis was the result. A mix of
ovals, squares and triangles at times tilted
at odd angles, at other times seeming to be
lined up and working in sync. I've had
other "Contrastis" days since.
