Captured Teardrop is one of my favorite
small pieces. It was done as the centerpiece
for a one-man show I did at the request of
the University of Iowa. The "teardrop" is,
of course, the faux pearl suspended in the
center of the carved quail egg. The quail
egg, in turn, is suspended within a carved
goose egg. The entire piece is a teardrop,
as are all of its parts, but the pearly heart
of the teardrop is suspended in time within
the scroll work of its confining eggshells. A
very balanced and exquisite piece that
draws a great deal of attention.
